A winter storm in the Northeast is impacting travel in Philadelphia, New York, and New Jersey on Thursday. According to flight tracking software FlightAware, more than 700 flights have cancelled, mostly at hubs in the Northeast, as snow, freezing rain, and sleet continue to fall through Thursday morning.

Forecasters expect mostly rain by later on Thursday morning, but lingering delays and disruptions are likely as airlines work to recover from the cancellations. Here are the most impacted airports as of 7 a.m. EST, according to FlightAware:

  • Philadelphia International Airport (PHL): 64 flights canceled (16% of its schedule), and another 9 delayed.
  • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): 52 flights canceled (11% of its total schedule), and another 6 delayed.
  • LaGuardia Airport (LGA): 46 flights canceled (8% of its total schedule).

American Airlines, the most impacted carrier on Thursday with more than 70 cancellations, has issued a travel waiver for flights through Thursday. The waiver covers flights out of Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), Philadelphia (PHL), T.F. Green International Airport (PVD), and more, allowing travelers to reschedule flights through Feb. 9 without penalty.

Delta Air Lines, which is seeing about 30 delays and cancellations on Thursday, has also issued a waiver for travel through Feb. 6 for a similar slate of airports. Delta’s waiver allows for changes to new flights also through Feb. 9.

JetBlue also has a waiver for Feb. 6 for travel through Northeast airports including Boston Logan (BOS), Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL), Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP), John F. Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Philadelphia (PHL), and more. JetBlue is allowing new flights to be booked through Feb. 11.

United Airlines has a waiver for travel on Feb. 6 through more than 15 airports, including Boston Logan (BOS), Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Reagan National (DCA), Newark Liberty (EWR), John F. Kennedy International (JFK), Philadelphia (PHL), and more. Impacted travelers can change their flight for a new one through Feb. 11.
