United Airlines Adds New Direct Service to Caribbean
by Daniel McCarthy /United Airlines is planning more service to the Caribbean from Newark Liberty International (EWR).
United will fly from Newark to Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) in Dominica starting on Feb. 15, 2025, marking the first time it offers service into Dominica.
The airline will fly the service on a Boeing 737-700 once a week on Saturdays, leaving 9:10 a.m. from Newark and returning at 3:45 p.m., according to a schedule United published on Cirium this week.
According to the country’s Minister of Tourism, who spoke to local media this week, the service is a major step forward for the island, which has sought to aggressively increase its tourism.
A major part of that plan is a new international airport, the first dedicated international airport on the island, currently under construction in Wesley, a part of Saint Andrew Parish in the island’s northeast. The airport is expected to be completed in 2026.
