WestJet Announces Interline Agreement with Yukon’s Air North
by Sarah Milner /WestJet announced yesterday (July 29) a new interline agreement with Yukon’s Air North.
Air North, based in Whitehorse, operates flights throughout Yukon and in other Northern Canadian communities like Inuvik (Northwest Territories).
Starting July 31, guests can book a single ticket with a connected itinerary between both flight networks, with a single point check-in and checked-through luggage.
“Understanding the criticality of air access for remote communities, and through our shared passion for affordable and accessible air travel, WestJet and Air North are joining forces to deliver the only full large carrier interline agreement to Northern Canada,” said Jared Mikoch-Gerke, WestJet Director, Alliances and Airport Affairs. “This interline agreement will redefine air travel to the Yukon and the Northwest Territories from WestJet’s expansive network, igniting important new tourism and business travel opportunities.”
Air North serves 12 Canadian destinations while WestJet connects to more than 100 in its growing network. Under this new deal, it will be easier for guests to travel to and from Northern hubs, including Whitehorse and Yellowknife.
“The interline agreement between WestJet and Air North will open doors for more visitors from across Canada and around the world to experience all that the Yukon has to offer,” said John Streicker, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Government of Yukon.
In a statement, WestJet said the two airlines will continue to enhance the offerings and plan to add full through check-in capability in the future.
