Wizarding World Of Harry Potter To Swap Out Dragon Challenge For New Roller Coaster
by Jessica Montevago
Guests step through a gothic archway as they begin their journey toward the Dragon Challenge attraction. The queue, flanked by Triwizard Tournament flags and banners, fills with triumphant music as guests come through the champions tent and get a glimpse of the iconic Goblet of Fire and Triwizard Cup. Guests then proceed through dark corridors, tunnels and caves. Guests may even hear dragons in the distance in advance of the upcoming task.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will get a new roller coaster come 2019, replacing its Dragon Challenge Ride Universal Orlando said earlier this week.
The new attraction will be part of Hogsmeade in the Islands of Adventure. Although Universal did not reveal a name for the attraction, it said the ride will feature “favorite characters and creatures” from the Harry Potter franchise.
“This ride is going to redefine the category and transport you to thrilling places, drawing you into even more exciting adventures within the wizarding world,” a post on Universal Orlando’s official parks blog said.
Dragon Challenge will close Sept. 4.
