MSC Meraviglia Arrives in NYC to Start Year-Round Cruising
by Dori Saltzman /New York City officially became MSC Cruises’ third U.S. homeport with the arrival of MSC Meraviglia at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on Thursday, April 20. Starting April 22, the ship will sail from New York City to The Bahamas and Florida, Canada and New England, and Bermuda.
“When we chose New York as the next step in our North American expansion, we knew that MSC Meraviglia would be the perfect ship, given her versatility and offerings for a wide variety of climates,” said Ruben Rodriguez, president of MSC Cruises USA. “We’re thrilled to give guests from the Northeast a direct link to our private destination – Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve – which is part of our fantastic itineraries to The Bahamas.”
According to data from the NYC Economic Development Corporation and CLIA, MSC Cruises’ presence in New York City is expected to generate up to 10,000 full time equivalent jobs and bring in more than 200,000 domestic and international visitors.
Itineraries from New York on MSC Meraviglia include:
- 7- to 11-night Bahamas and Florida sailings with a selection of ports including Miami and Port Canaveral; Nassau and Ocean Cay; and Cozumel and Costa Maya.
- 5- to 6-night Bermuda cruises to Kings Wharf, with several days spent in port.
- 10- and 11-night Canada ad New England journeys that stop in Newport, Boston and Portland in the U.S., and Saint John, Halifax, Charlottetown, and Sydney in Canada.
The 5,7000-passenger MSC Meraviglia offers 10 different stateroom categories for clients to choose from; 12 restaurants and 12 bars including MSC signatures like Butcher’s Cut Steakhouse and Kaito Sushi and Teppanyaki; a water park with three twisting slides and a ropes course; an entertainment area with the line’s popular MSC Formula Racer experience, full-size bowling alley, interactive XD cinema, and flight simulator; and the MSC Kids’ Club for kids 0-17 years old.
