Oceania Cruises Names Celebrity Chef Giada De Laurentiis Godmother of Vista
by Dori Saltzman /Oceania Cruises has chosen Celebrity Chef Giada De Laurentiis, the former host of Food Network’s “Giada at Home,” as godmother of its newest ship, Vista, which debuts this May.
“As the world’s leading culinary-focused cruise line, bringing Giada into the Oceania Cruises family was an easy decision,” said Frank A. Del Rio, president of Oceania Cruises. “Her casual yet sophisticated style and devout love of quality cuisine are the perfect recipe for Vista. She truly personifies our first Allura Class ship and we could not be more delighted that she has agreed to be godmother of Vista.”
As part of her godmother duties, De Laurentiis will create two signature dishes to be served onboard Vista in the ship’s Toscana specialty restaurant, as well as in the Grand Dining Room.
Vista, the first new ship for the cruise line in more than 10 years, officially joins the Oceania fleet on May 8 in Valletta, Malta. The naming ceremony will feature a special appearance by Grammy and Emmy Award-winning singer, pianist and actor Harry Connick Jr.
