Royal Caribbean Skips Bali
Royal Caribbean became the second cruise line in as many weeks to decide to skip Bali because of concerns over terrorism.
The crew on the Radiance of the Seas has informed passengers that “based on the latest security information” it decided to skip a scheduled port of call in Bali, Indonesia next week.
Royal will add a replacement port that has yet to be announced.
Last week, Celebrity Cruises announced that it would be skipping a scheduled Celebrity Solstice stop at Bali because it could not guarantee the safety of its passengers.
Though Bali has long been a popular cruise port of call—in 2015 close to 60 cruise ships stopped on the island—it has been plagued by terrorism concerns.
Jakarta—the capital and largest city in Indonesia, about 600 miles west of Bali—was bombed by Islamist militants in January. After that attack, which killed eight people, Bali police said they received anonymous threats warning that the city could be attacked next.
