Silversea Cruises Floats Out Silver Nova
by Dori Saltzman /Silversea Cruises’ next new ship, Silver Nova, floated out at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany late last month.
“With her float out at the Meyer Werft shipyard, anticipation is building among our guests, travel partner community, and the extended Silversea family for the launch of our 12th ship, Silver Nova,” said Barbara Muckermann, president and CEO of Silversea Cruises.
To commemorate the milestone, and in observance of shipbuilding traditions, Captain Cosimo Pontillo welded a special coin to a wall on the pool deck. The coin will remain visible to the ship’s future guests.
“The float out marks the completion of the first construction phase and we will now focus on installing the ship’s beautiful interiors,” said Roberto Bruzzone, senior vice president of marine operations of Silversea.
The 728-guest Silver Nova will be the first of two Nova class ships when it launches this August. It will offer the line’s largest selection of bars, restaurants, and lounges, as well as some of the most spacious suites at sea.
