Soaring Price of Fuel Spurs Air Canada to End Four U.S. Seasonal Routes Early
by Bruce Parkinson
Air Canada says four seasonal flight routes to U.S. cities will end earlier than previously planned due to the soaring price of jet fuel.
Customers booked on the affected flights will be contacted with alternate travel options, including a full refund, the airline says.
The affected routes are:
- Vancouver to Raleigh, N.C.: Last flight is now July 29
- Toronto to Sacramento, Calif.: Last flight is now August 1
- Toronto to Charleston, S.C.: Last flight is now September 6
- Montreal to Austin, Texas: Last flight is now September 7
Air Canada says it plans to resume full service on the routes in the summer of 2027.
Flights from Toronto and Montreal to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport were recently suspended with intentions to resume on October 25. WestJet also recently announced capacity cuts in May and June due to high fuel costs making routes unprofitable.
