Air Transat will suspend its flights to the United States as of May.
Flights to Orlando from Montreal will cease on May 4, as will flights to Fort Lauderdale from Quebec City and Montreal, starting in May and June. The airline operated up to two flights per day between YUL and FLL.
Air Transat spokesperson Marie-Ève Vallières confirmed to TRM Québec that these are indeed the last Air Transat flights to the United States.
“Air Transat is cancelling its flights to Florida (Fort Lauderdale and Orlando) for the 2026 summer season, with a gradual end to operations in the spring. Flight scheduling to Florida for the 2026-2027 winter season will be determined at a later date.”
Vallières also points out that the United States represents only 1% of Air Transat’s total capacity, and that of the 67 destinations served by the carrier, only two are located in the United States: Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.
“This adjustment is part of a proactive management of our capacity, as we focus our efforts on markets where Air Transat is best positioned and which allow us to optimize the deployment of our resources. Air Transat’s presence in the United States remains very marginal today, representing only 1% of our average seat-kilometer capacity for the summer. Only two of our 67 destinations are located there, namely Fort Lauderdale and Orlando,” she continued.
Just last week, WestJet announced it was cutting 15 several Canada–U.S. routes as transborder demand continues to soften, leading to a remarkable reduction in capacity for Summer 2026.
