Emerald Kaia Completes Successful Sea Trials in Vietnam
by Marsha Mowers
Sea trials of Emerald Kaia are complete.
Emerald Cruises & Tours has marked a major milestone in the construction of Emerald Kaia with the successful completion of sea trials in Halong Bay, Vietnam, bringing the next-generation luxury super yacht one step closer to entering service.
Conducted from Scenic Group’s shipyard in Halong Bay, the yacht’s first open-water trials confirmed strong performance, manoeuvrability, and overall seaworthiness. The trials pave the way for Emerald Kaia’s inaugural sailing—an 11-day “Cyprus to the Acropolis” itinerary departing Limassol on April 4, 2026.
In a news release, James Griffiths, Scenic Group General Manager, Ocean Operations said the milestone is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved in the project.
“Operationally, this sea trial has delivered excellent results and allows us to proceed with the final phase of commissioning with confidence. We look forward to welcoming guests on board Emerald Kaia in April 2026.”
Designed to deliver a relaxed luxury yacht experience, Emerald Kaia will welcome just 128 guests and features expansive lounges, terraces, and open decks enhanced with Missoni décor and furnishings. New interconnecting suites offer added flexibility for families and groups, while spacious staterooms and suites provide contemporary comfort throughout the vessel.
Among the standout features is an all-new Observation Sun Deck, complete with an additional spa pool, sun loungers, and shaded areas. An innovative indoor-outdoor gym, located beside the marina platform, allows guests to work out with fresh sea air before cooling off with a swim directly from the platform.
Emerald Kaia will also debut a refreshed design for its signature restaurant, La Cucina, featuring a vibrant open kitchen that enhances energy and guest connection. Complementing this is the new Night Market Grill, an intimate private dining venue accommodating just eight guests.
With sea trials now complete, the yacht will move into final fit-out and delivery ahead of her highly anticipated debut. Emerald Kaia will join Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara in the Emerald Yacht Cruises fleet, with sister yachts Emerald Raiya (2027) and Emerald Xara (2028) set to follow.
