Scenic Group Celebrates Ceremonial Launch of Emerald Astra

Emerald Astra.

Scenic Group celebrated a major milestone with the ceremonial launch of Emerald Astra, the newest addition to the Emerald Cruises Star-Ship fleet.

It marks the beginning of a new chapter for Emerald Cruises & Tours and introduces several exciting new features, including complimentary guest laundry facilities, a first for the Emerald Cruises Star-Ship fleet.

Set to make her inaugural voyage along the Danube River in May 2026, Emerald Astra represents the next generation of Emerald Star-Ships, blending contemporary design with an elevated focus on comfort, sustainability, and style.

Her interiors showcase a refreshed design narrative, featuring art installations in partnership with leading European galleries and collaborations with luxury design houses including Missoni and Freifrau. Guest suites and staterooms feature premium ESPA toiletries and top-tier European linens, pillows (with an expanded pillow menu), towels, mattresses, and toppers. Select suites will also include Missoni soft furnishings.

Continuing a proud maritime tradition, Scenic Group has named advisor Toni Day as Godmother of Emerald Astra. A respected first responder turned travel advisor, Day will officially christen the vessel during its naming ceremony in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in May 2026.

“Toni embodies the passion, dedication, and resilience that define the very best of the travel industry,” said Ken Muskat, President, Scenic Group USA/LATAM. “Her service as a first responder and her leadership as a travel advisor have touched countless lives. We are deeply honoured to welcome her as Godmother of Emerald Astra and to celebrate her as part of the Scenic Group family.”

Following her debut, Emerald Lumi will join the fleet on the River Seine in 2027, carrying forward the same contemporary design philosophy and guest-focused enhancements. At the close of each sailing season, both Emerald Cruises & Tours and Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours fleets undergo comprehensive end-of-season enhancements designed to maintain a best-in-class onboard experience.

For the Scenic Star-Ships, winter refurbishments include refreshed suite design elements, premium European linens and bedding, and upgraded top-deck furnishings that create inviting outdoor retreats.
