Guatemala Tourism Institute Names Duval Communications as Canadian Representative

With flights arriving from both Toronto and Montreal this winter, the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (INGUAT) has announced the appointment of Duval Communication as its official public relations and travel trade representative in Canada.

The partnership aims to increase awareness of Guatemala among Canadian travellers, with a particular focus on the Quebec market, where seasonal Air Canada flights are entering their second consecutive year.

INGUAT says the direct Montreal–Guatemala flight has demonstrated strong market potential, making it easier than ever for Quebec travellers to discover one of Central America’s most captivating destinations.

Air Canada currently operates between two and four weekly flights from Montréal. Initially launched as a seasonal winter service in November 2025, the route is expected to transition to year-round operations beginning in 2027.

Air Canada will fly to Guatemala from Toronto this winter.

INGUAT says the recent announcement of a direct flight from Toronto will only reinforce that momentum, opening the door for more Canadian travellers to experience Guatemala’s rich culture, biodiversity, and adventure tourism firsthand. Air Canada will launch a new weekly nonstop service between Toronto Pearson and Guatemala City on December 1.

Travel advisors are invited to join the new bilingual Facebook group, Visit Guatemala Canada | B2B, to connect with industry professionals, ask questions about the destination, and access valuable sales tools and updates.

“To promote Guatemala in Canada, we were looking for an agency with knowledge of the market, creative capabilities, and strong relationships within the tourism industry,” says Harris Whitbeck, General Director of INGUAT.

“Guatemala offers authentic experiences, meaningful encounters, and a wide diversity of destinations that still have significant potential for positioning among Canadian travellers. Duval Communication’ s proposal responds to these objectives and to the need to develop a comprehensive communications strategy.”

Duval Communication is tasked with a comprehensive strategy combining media relations and travel trade representation.

“Quebec and Canadian travellers are increasingly seeking destinations that combine authenticity, originality and convenient air access,” said Gwendoline Duval, President of Duval Communication.

“Guatemala has all the ingredients to become one of the most exciting emerging destinations for the Canadian market. Our mission is to inspire the travel industry , equip travel advisors with the knowledge they need, and ultimately position Guatemala as a must-visit destination for Quebec and Canadian travellers.

“Still relatively undiscovered by many Canadian travellers and travel agents, Guatemala offers an exceptional diversity of experiences. From the UNESCO World Heritage city of Antigua Guatemala and the breathtaking shores of Lake Atitlán to the ancient Mayan city of Tikal, active volcanoes, vibrant Indigenous traditions, colourful markets and world-class outdoor adventures, the country appeals to travellers looking to venture beyond the traditional sun destination.”

To officially kick off the collaboration, a travel advisor webinar will be held on September 10 at 1.30 PM Eastern Time, providing industry professionals with an overview of Guatemala’s tourism offerings, product updates, itinerary ideas and information about the seasonal direct flight from Montreal. Registration is here.
