Journey Beyond, an experiential tour group in Australia, has restructured its senior leadership team as the company looks to double in size by the end of 2026.

The business now has three divisions: Rail & Touring, Resorts & Lodges, and Experiences & Attractions. Matt Cameron-Smith, the current CEO of Voyages Tourism Australia, has been appointed to lead in the group-wide role of chief commercial officer for Journey Beyond, and David Donald has been promoted to managing director of Rail & Touring.

“As Journey Beyond continues to grow and evolve, it is essential that our organizational model and leadership structure are designed to support the significant growth ahead,” said Chris Tallent, Journey Beyond Group CEO. “This new structure sees our individual brands and operations logically grouped into three aligned and larger business divisions to ensure we are focused on the areas that matter most for our long-term strategy”.

Journey Beyond is now conducting a search for the managing directors of the company’s Resorts & Lodges and Experiences & Attractions divisions.

The company’s Rail & Tour division is considered the “heart and soul” of the brand, offering rail journeys in The Ghan and Indian Pacific and integrating premium tour operators Outback Spirit and Grand Pacific Tours for multi-day, immersive trips. Donald has led this segment for six years and will now oversee its expansion.

The Resorts & Lodges division is also expanding, encompassing properties such as Ayers Rock Resort, the eco-luxury Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef, Monarto Safari Resort, and a portfolio of remote lodges.

Experiences & Attractions represents the group’s single day activities, unifying several brands under its Marine & Aviation operations; such as Cruise Whitsundays, Rottnest Express and Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures; and Attractions & Dining operations, including Melbourne Skydeck and Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney.
