ACTA’s Director of Advocacy and Industry Relations Avery Campbell is stepping down.
Avery Campbell has announced his departure from ACTA after nearly five years of service as Director, Advocacy & Industry Relations.
“I am now seeking new opportunities and reaching out to my network,” Campbell said in a LinkedIn post. “I look back on my tenure with a deep sense of pride in what we achieved during some of the most challenging years in the industry’s history.”
Campbell joined ACTA at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and was quickly tasked with supporting members through lobbying government for the federal and provincial financial supports required to keep the industry alive.
“During this period, I spearheaded national grassroots advocacy campaigns, lobbied Ministers and officials at all levels of government, and worked collaboratively with peer associations to support Canada’s travel and hospitality sector.,” Campbell said in his post.

“I also developed the research platform for Canada’s first statistical survey of the retail industry and produced hundreds of communications for members, regulators, and government stakeholders. Representing Canada at global airline-agency forums and building coalitions across the sector were highlights of a role where I saw real, tangible impacts on the people we served.”
Campbell says he employed a passion for operational leadership and technology to help modernize the organization’s infrastructure, build a new website and move the organization to a new CRM and reformed payment systems.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked with best-in-class colleagues and to have engaged with our members across the country. I want to specifically thank (former ACTA president) Wendy Paradis for her leadership and for the growth opportunities she provided during my time with the association. I am now looking forward to my next chapter and am seeking a new senior role where I can apply my experience in advocacy, operational leadership, and digital transformation,” Campbell added.
“You joined ACTA during an extremely challenging time and delivered tangible results — supporting the industry, building systems, strengthening processes,” said Ivan Balychev, Trevello Independent Travel Manager. “Wishing you a next chapter where the scale matches your experience.”
