American Jazz will have the unique patent-pending opening bow and retractable gangway featured on each of American’s Modern Riverboats.
American Cruise Lines’ third modern riverboat, set to enter service in on the Mississippi in 2020, will be named American Jazz, the cruise line revealed on Thursday.
The ship, currently under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Md., will join sister ships American Song and American Harmony as the third in the line’s Modern Riverboat series of ships. Two more ships will be added to the series in the future.
American Jazz, along with ACL’s other modern riverboats, will feature a patent-pending opening bow an and retractable gangway, a multi-story glass atrium, and private furnished balconies in all staterooms.
American Song, which started sailing in 2018, is currently positioned on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. The second of the ships will be unveiled later this year when American Harmony begins saying on the Mississippi in August.
Last year, ACL unveiled new programs for travel advisors, including the addition of some business development managers—one for the Northwest U.S. and one for the Southwest, with more to possibly come. The BDM development works in conjunction with ACL’s travel agent online training and the new 15 percent agent commissions that the company announced last year.
