Carnival Cruise Line Reveals Family-Friendly Starfish Lagoon at Celebration Key
by Dori Saltzman /Carnival Cruise Line has raised the curtain on another Celebration Key area, the family-friendly Starfish Lagoon. Centered around an expansive freshwater lagoon, Starfish Lagoon will feature a variety of activities for families of all ages and energy levels.
“At Carnival, we carry more children than any other cruise line, so we’ve designed Starfish Lagoon specifically for family fun,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Toddlers, teens, and adults alike will find their own piece of paradise whether it be racing down one of the waterslides, playing a round of pickleball, or relaxing on our floating AquaBanas.”
Highlights of Starfish Lagoon will be:
- The pink Flash Flamingo and blue Mach III Marlin waterslides are each over 350 feet long and weave through and around the 10-story high Suncastle, featuring flashes of light and color, before culminating in a splashy photo finish.
- The Guppy Grotto, located at the entrance to Starfish Lagoon, is for toddlers and small children and offers coral reef-themed children’s water play area with two-foot-deep wading pool, water toys, a dump bucket, shaded seating for parents, and a nearby ice cream shop.
- The Game Pavilion features a variety of table games such as foosball, ping pong, and corn hole, while the adjacent Sports Court is home to volleyball, basketball, and pickleball courts.
- Guests can have fun with floating “AquaBanas,” sturdy floating cabanas that let guests relax with their feet in the water under the shady canopy. Available for rental, the 12 AquaBanas come with seating space for eight, a solid table for drinks and other essentials, non-slip surfaces, and steps for easy access into the lagoon. The AquaBanas are all grouped around a peninsula with a dedicated bar. (A variety of traditional cabanas and daybeds will also be available.)
- A stretch of the beach will be open for kayak and paddleboard rentals, as well as provide plenty of space for beach Frisbee and sandcastle building.
- Though it’s a family-friendly area, there will also be a swim-up bar for adults.
- Starfish Lagoon will feature a variety of dining venues including restaurants, snack and bar shacks, along with Bahamian food trucks.
Celebration Key is scheduled to open in July 2025. More than 500 itineraries that are currently open for sale will visit the island.
