Carnival Cruise Line Sets Date for San Francisco Debut

The Carnival Miracle approaches Freeport in the Bahamas. Built in Finland for $375 million, the ship is 960 feet long, has 12 decks and can carry more than 2,100 passengers. For the first time in its history, Carnival Cruise Line will depart out of San Francisco, when Carnival Miracle starts sailing from the city in 2020.

The sailings will start on Mar. 19, 2020, with Miracle offering a schedule that includes four-day weekend cruises to Ensenada departing every Thursday until the summer of 2020 — with some five-day and six-day itineraries to Ensenada, Catalina Island, and San Diego mixed in.

During its spring schedule, Miracle will also sail a 15-day Carnival Journeys Hawaii cruise on Apr. 16 that includes calls to Maui, Honolulu, Hilo, Kona, and Kauai.

Then, in the summer of 2020, Miracle will sail 10-day Alaskan itineraries round-trip from San Francisco that include stops at Juneau, Skagway, and Icy Strait Point. It will sail one 11-day Alaskan itinerary on Aug. 9, 2020.

“Carnival is the number one cruise operator from the West Coast, and these new programs from San Francisco and San Diego, as well as the deployment of the brand new Carnival Panorama from Long Beach, speak volumes to our confidence in growing this important market,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

The ship will reposition to San Diego starting on Oct. 4, 2020, offering three-day and four-day sailings to Ensenada, along with five-day sailings that include overnight stays in Cabo San Lucas.
