Cruising Brought $3.16 Billion to Caribbean, Mexican, and Latin American Destinations

October 08, 2015

A new study by Business Research and Economic Advisors reports that cruise tourism generated $3.16 billion for the Caribbean, Mexico, and Latin America during the 2014-2015 cruise year, generating 75,050 jobs and $976 million in employee wages.

The average passenger spent $103.83 in port (an 8.25% increase over the 2011-2012 cruise year) for a total of $2.45 billion.

Cruise line crews have a significant economic impact of their own, as an estimated 4.5 million crewmembers spent an additional $302 million in ports.
