Explora Journeys to Pay Commission on Pre-Booked Shore Excursions

by Dori Saltzman  August 05, 2026
Explora Journeys to Pay Commission on Pre-Booked Shore Excursions

Explora Journeys will travel Alaska for the first time next year.

Explora Journeys is once again showing its commitment to the travel agency community with a new policy that sees travel advisors get paid a commission on pre-booked Destination Experiences (shore excursions).

The change was announced onboard the just-launched EXPLORA III by Justin Poulsen, head of itinerary planning and destination experiences for Explora Journeys.

Explora’s president of North America, Chris Austin, confirmed the policy for TMR.

“Travel advisors are at the heart of our growth strategy, and we’re continually looking for new ways to support their success. Expanding commission to Destination Experiences is another demonstration of that commitment and reflects our broader vision to create additional earning opportunities for our partners across the Explora Journeys experience, from pre- and post-Journeys to onboard food and beverage experiences,” he said.

As reported by UK trade media publication TTG Media, 80% of the line’s Destination Experiences are already booked in advance and Explora would like to see that grow to 90%.
