First Look: RockStar Suites from Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady
by Daniel McCarthy /Virgin Voyages this week continued the slow reveal of what’s to come from one of the most highly anticipated cruise industry entrants in recent years.
After announcing that its first ship, Scarlet Lady, will feature 20-plus eateries with no surcharges, and giving a glimpse into its new PortMiami Terminal, late last year, Virgin has revealed details of its onboard suites, which it called “RockStar Suites,” all designed by legendary British designed Tom Dixon.
In total, Scarlet Lady will debut with 78 suites with eight different styles, all of which include access to a personal assistant that Virgin has dubbed a “Rockstar Coordinator.”
Suite guests also get private transportation; a wardrobe team to help them pack and unpack; complimentary clothes pressing and swimsuit drying services; and access to Richard’s Rooftop, a members-only area for suite guests that includes a bar.
The largest of the eight different suite styles, the Massive Suite, will feature 2,147 square feet of space that includes a living room, a terrace with an outdoor Jacuzzi, a private outdoor shower, hammocks, a catamaran, circular sea bar lounges, and a dining table that can fit up to six.

Below the Massive Suite is the Fab Suite (950 square feet) that includes a separate living room and a terrace with an outdoor shower, stargazing loungers, a hammock, and an outdoor table. Then there’s the Posh Suite (833 square feet) that includes a fully stocked bar, record player, a peek-a-boo shower that features a view onto the ocean, a terrace with lounge chairs, and a champagne table.
The next tier down is the Gorgeous Suite (570 square feet), which includes an outdoor shower, and lounge chairs and hammock on its terrace; and the Brilliant Suite (482 square feet), which features a hammock swing chair on its terrace and a fully stocked bar and record player in the room.

Rounding out the offerings are the Cheeky Corner Suite (between 607 and 847.8 square feet), which includes sofa loungers on a balcony that wraps around the corner of the ship; the Sweet Aft Suite (between 416 and 661 square feet), which Virgin says gives guests the “most-Instagrammable wake view directly from the bed or even from inside the shower;” and the Seriously Suite (between 352 and 357 square feet), the most popular of Virgin’s suites, which also has a window in the bathroom to see the ocean.
Agents can register with Virgin on its new website, FirstMates.com, starting on Feb. 5, the same day that those holding pre-sale deposits can book the line’s inaugural sailings (the inaugural season will officially open for sale for the general public on Feb. 14, 2019).
