Virgin Hotels Collection Appoints New CEO
by Briana Bonfiglio
Virgin Hotels Collection has appointed Joe Margison, the company’s interim CEO since October 2025, as its new CEO.
The previous chief commercial officer stepped into the role after former CEO James Bermingham stepped down last year. Marginson has been with Virgin Hotel Collection, the parent company of Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition, since 2015. Virgin Hotels is the collection’s lifestyle hotel brand, while Virgina Limited Edition offers exclusive estate, private island, and luxury hotels.
“Having led the Virgin Hotels Collection team for seven months, I have seen first-hand the strength of this business and the opportunity ahead,” Margison said. “Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition are distinct brands united by the same Virgin spirit – brilliant people, service with real warmth and character, and experiences guests remember long after they leave. We have a strong foundation and a significant opportunity ahead. I’m excited to lead the business through its next chapter of growth.”
Peter Norris, chair of Virgin Hotels Collection, said the appointment “reflects the leadership [Margison] has shown since stepping into the role.”
“He has brought clarity, confidence and renewed focus to the business while continuing to champion Virgin’s distinctive spirit and experience-led approach to hospitality,” Norris said. “We are delighted to confirm his permanent appointment and look forward to the next phase of growth under his leadership.”
Margison’s appointment comes as both Virgin Hotels Collection brands are expanding – both Virgin Hotels Atlanta at Centennial Yards and a Virgin Limited Edition property in Marrakech are slated to open in 2027. The collection currently encompasses 16 properties total across the U.S., Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
