Katie Kania, senior director, agency sales at Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), is preparing to bid farewell to the cruise line after more than seven years with the company.

The Toronto-based executive announced her departure in a heartfelt social media post Tuesday (Nov. 3), reflecting on the experiences, friendships and professional relationships that have shaped her career at NCL.

Kania joined NCL in August 2019 as a business development manager, eventually rising to the position of senior director, agency sales.

“As I wrap up my last few days at NCL, it’s hard not to take a trip down memory lane,” Kania wrote.

“Looking back, there have been so many moments that defined this chapter. The travel, conferences, ship visits, and more flights than I could ever count. I’ve seen so much of the world while representing a brand I’ll always be proud of.”

Kania said the relationships she developed along the way have been the most meaningful part of her journey.

“What stands out most isn’t the places I’ve been – it’s the people,” she wrote.

“I keep finding myself thinking about the relationships I’ve built, and how lucky I am to be part of such an amazing industry. Not everyone gets to have this much fun at work while building something we’re proud of. To our travel partners and supplier friends: thank you – it has been a privilege working alongside you.”

Kania also paid tribute to her colleagues.

“I owe my team the biggest thank you of all. This team is something special,” she wrote. “I’ve had the privilege of working alongside truly exceptional people over the years, and I’m blown away by what we’ve accomplished. We have laughed, won, and learned together, and I’ll always be cheering them on from the sidelines.”

In a separate message sent to Travel Market Report Canada, Kania said it has been “an incredible run” at NCL and that she’s “loved every minute.”

As for what’s next, Kania isn’t revealing her plans just yet, but hinted that an announcement is on the horizon.

“I’m incredibly excited for the next chapter. More to come on that soon,” she wrote. “For now, I’m just grateful for this wild ride.”
