Holland America Line’s Koningsdam has returned from a two-week dry dock in the Bahamas with new accommodations for families and groups of friends traveling together, along with refreshed entertainment and retail spaces.
First and foremost among the updates to the ship was the addition of five new, larger oceanview staterooms. Each stateroom accommodates up to four guests and features two beds that convert to a queen-size bed, along with a double sofa bed. Four of these rooms are connecting, allowing larger groups of families and friends to book together.
HAL also upgraded 22 Vista Suits, with new sofa beds, giving families yet more options to stay together.

Refreshed Public Spaces
Among the public spaces that received a refresh is the area that connects Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge, creating a more immersive live music experience. This includes new lounge seating in this area giving guests the opportunity to take in shows at both spots simultaneously.
Additionally, added seating in each venue provides more space for guests to enjoy the lounges’ entertainment.
Koningsdam’s casino was also expanded during the dry dock giving the cruise line the ability to add additional casino experiences. The refreshed layout also improve circulation through nearby entertainment and shopping areas, reducing the smell of cigarette smoke.
The ship’s Effy jewelry retail space also underwent a full refresh, receiving new flooring, wall finishes, lighting and display fixtures, upgraded signage, and more.
Other enhancements to the ship included new carpets in staterooms and public areas and new equipment in the ship’s fitness center.
In the specialty dining rooms, including Pinnacle Grill, Sel de Mer, and Club Orange, some of the fixed tables were converted to movable table arrangements, allowing greater flexibility in seating configurations to better accommodate different group sizes and guest preferences.
