MSC Cruises Chooses an American Sweetheart as Godmother for World America

For every ship, there is a perfect godmother and for MSC World America that godmother is Drew Barrymore. An actress, multiple award winner, and host of the Drew Barrymore show, Barrymore has already starred in the cruise line’s “Let’s Holiday” TV commercial, which debuted during the Super Bowl.

“As a family company with over 300 years of seafaring heritage, these events hold a special and personal significance for us,” said Suzanne Salas, executive vice president, marketing, eCommerce, and sales for MSC Cruises USA. “Drew is the perfect godmother for MSC World America, and we are thrilled to continue to partner with her for this campaign. She embodies our brand perfectly, with her exquisite style and grace, and her passion for the comfort and adventure we find through travel.”

MSC World America will be the second vessel in the line’s World Class, following the highly successful World Europa. Like World Europa, it features seven districts encompassing 19 dining venues, 18 bars and lounges, outdoor activities, and more.

“When MSC Cruises asked me to be the Godmother of MSC World America, I immediately said yes,” Barrymore said. “I absolutely love to travel – it fuels my soul – and being part of something that helps people set off on incredible adventures is just amazing. There’s something so magical about cruises; they let you discover the world in this really fun, unexpected way.

Barrymore will officially name MSC World America on April 9 in Miami. She will be joined by her “Let’s Holiday” commercial co-star Orlando Bloom during the ceremony. (Bloom’s wife, Katy Perry, is the godmother of Norwegian Prima.)
