Palma de Mallorca Sets Cruise Ship & Passenger Number Limits

Palma de Mallorca will impose a three-cruise-ship-per-day limit during its peak summer season starting in June 2027. The limit is part of an agreement reached by the Balearic Government, Palma Town Hall, and the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).

Under the agreement, daily cruise passenger numbers will also be reduced from 8.500 to 7,500, an approximate overall reduction of 30,000 passengers per month.

Additionally, only one of the three ships permitted per day may carry more than 5,000 passengers.

The limits will remain in place through at least September 2029.

Palma de Mallorca is the latest port destination to impose cruise ship and passenger limits in a bid to combat overtourism in some of the most popular destinations around the world. In 2024, Ibiza, also a Balearic island, limited cruise ship visits to just two per day.
