Royal Caribbean Debuts Wristbands
Royal Caribbean has joined the trend toward replacing the traditional room keycard with a multipurpose wristband. Guests aboard its newest ship, the Anthem of the Seas, will be fitted with wristbands designed to smooth and speed up embarkation and disembarkation. The wristbands also will keep track of bar, restaurant, and photo tabs.
Two years ago, Disney debuted its $1 billion Magic Bands project—the most expensive tech project in theme-park history. The Disney wristbands store theme-park tickets, room keys, and other information.
