Scenic Group Adds Starlink to Yacht Fleet
by Dori Saltzman /Scenic Group has become the latest in a long line of cruise lines to select Starlink as its onboard Wi-Fi provider. All four yachts in the company’s fleet – two Scenic yachts and two Emerald Cruises yachts – will have the super-fast Internet service by the end of the year.
Scenic Eclipse II, which debuted earlier this month, already has the Starlink onboard, while Emerald Azzurra will receive the service by the end of the month. Emerald Sakara, which launches in August, will have the service when it debuts. No specific timeline has been set for Scenic Eclipse, but the company has said the yacht will have Starlink by the end of the year.
“These upgrades will offer guests the ability to easily communicate with their friends and family back home – sharing their amazing vacation experiences through social media, and with photos and videos – almost as they happen,” the line said in its announcement.
Starlink has become the go-to satellite provider for the cruise industry, with more cruise lines using it than not. Cruisers will also find the superfast Internet on some or all ships in the fleets of Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas, Silversea, Lindblad Expeditions, Hurtigruten, SeaDream Yacht Club, American Cruise Lines, American Queen Voyages, and Aqua Expeditions.
