Silversea Cruises Partners With Renowned American Photographer Steve McCurry
by Daniel McCarthy
Silversea Cruises’ fleet expansion, which kicked off with Silver Muse’s debut in April, will be chronicled by one of America’s most celebrated photographers as the line announced Wednesday a new partnership with photographer Steve McCurry.
McCurry is best known for his portrait, “Afghan Girl,” which he took in December 1984. The photo, which was printed on the cover of National Geographic in June 1985, is one of the most recognized photos ever taken and won McCurry a first-place prize in the World Press Photo contest in 1985.
McCurry is also known for his photos of India’s rural villages, New York’s Twin Towers on 9/11, the Iran-Iraq War and the Gulf War.
“He has the ability to capture the authentic beauty in the world, and express it with passion and clarity,” Silversea chief marketing officer Barbara Muckermann said.
