Treading Water: With Ships Stranded in Middle East, Celestyal Cancels April Sailings

Celestyal has cancelled all April 2026 departures as its ships remain stranded in the Middle East.

Both of the line’s two vessels are currently sitting in the Arabian Gulf, waiting to reposition to Athens, Greece. Celestyal Discovery is in Dubai, UAE, while Celestyal Journey is in Doha, Qatar.

All passengers and non-operational crew disembarked some time ago. According to the company, the ships remain ready to leave the region as soon as they receive clearance from relevant authorities.

Celestyal hopes its ship can return to the Mediterranean soon for their summer program.

Passengers affected by the April cancellations are being offered a full refund or a future cruise credit.

“Our priority remains the safety and confidence of our guests, crew and partners. While we know this will be disappointing, making this decision now provides greater clarity and flexibility for those affected,” saidLee Haslett, the line’s Chief Commercial Officer.

“Our teams are working closely with guests and travel partners to support rebooking options and ensure a smooth transition, and we remain focused on returning to service in the Mediterranean as soon as it is safe to do so.”

The next scheduled cruise for Celestyal Discovery departs May 1, 2026, and explores the Greek Islands, while Celestyal Journey is scheduled to leave the next day for a seven-night trip to Greece, Italy, and Croatia.
