In an “official document” sent to past Virgin Voyages passengers, the cruise line apologized for its failure to ban certain items of clothing from its restaurants.
“Despite intensive internal discussions, we have been unable to ban open-toed footwear from our restaurants. We have also failed on Hoodies – so they remain. Attempts to prohibit baseball caps have also failed,” the email stated.
“We can confirm someone even wore a bucket hat to five-course tasting menu at Test Kitchen last Tuesday on Scarlet Lady. It’s outrageous. Sure, it was an LV one but still. We tried. We really did.”
Virgin Voyages went on to say that its Sailors “seem to take this idea of relaxed luxury literally,” adding this ability to come as they is responsible for the line’s record repeat rates and continued accumulation of awards.
The line signed off with, “With love and zero dress code.”
The tongue-in-cheek note to past passengers comes as Norwegian Cruise Line recently reinforced its specialty dining dress code which bans shorts, tank tips, ripped jeans, and hoodies from its fine dining restaurants.
