andBeyond Enters Galapagos Market with Refurbed Yacht
by Dori Saltzman /Luxury expedition tour company andBeyond is expanding its South America portfolio with the launch of an expedition yacht in the Galapagos Islands. Called the andBeyond Galapagos Explorer, the 124-foot, 12-passenger yacht will operate on two seven-night routes in the east and west of the archipelago.
“A uniquely biodiverse environment with the highest number of endemic species in the world, the Galapagos is a natural choice for the further expansion of our portfolio in South America,” said andBeyond executive chairman & CEO, Joss Kent.
The yacht, which will have only four cabins and two suites onboard, will be able to hold up to 12 passengers, plus two local guides. It will operate two different seven-night itineraries. Highlights of the eastern itinerary include Gardner Bay on Espanola Island and scenic cruising around Kicker Rock. The western itinerary features visits to Sombrero Chino Island and Santa Fe Island.
Currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment of its interior spaces, the andBeyond Galapagos Explorer will set sail on its first departure June 17, 2024. It is unclear whether andBeyond has purchased the yacht or is chartering it. To operate in the Galapagos, a company must first obtain a licesnsing token. No new tokens are ever issued, so andBeyond either had to purchase or “borrow” one.
Pricing starts at $10,950 per person.
