Dominica is expanding its cruise offerings with a new collection of locally-rooted shore excursions designed to give cruisers a deeper connection to the island. Options range from small-batch distillery tastings to guided cultural walking tours to e-bike adventures.
The introduction of these new experiences comes as Dominica continues to see strong growth in cruise tourism. During the 2025-26 season, the island welcomed more than 300,000 passengers across 189 cruise calls, including 11 inaugural visits, a record-breaking milestone that reflects increasing demand from both cruise operators and travelers.
“Dominica continues to stand out in the Caribbean cruise landscape because of the authenticity and depth of the experiences we offer visitors,” said Marva Williams, CEO of Discover Dominica Authority. “Our approach prioritizes sustainability and community engagement, ensuring travelers can connect with the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage in meaningful ways. These experiences reflect the spirit of our Nature of Love campaign, which celebrates the connection between visitors, nature, and our local communities.”
New Shore Excursion Options
The Sea Cliff Eco Cottages & Gin Distillery excursion, located in Calibishie, features guided tastings of small-batch spirits, including the distillery’s signature Cocoa Martini, a garden-to-glass cocktail sustainably crafted using cocoa husks from Pointe Baptiste Chocolate Factory. The experience also includes access to a clifftop bar, as well as the Gin Botanicals Trail, where visitors can explore the plants used in the distillation process across two acres of tropical gardens.
Similarly, cruise passengers can also experience the Rosalie Bay Distillery, the world’s only conservation-focused distillery. Sustainability is central to every aspect of its operations, and revenue generated by this non-profit supports critical environmental initiatives, including sea turtle protection, coral reef restoration, whale conservation, and the management of protected areas.
These two distillery experiences highlight Dominica’s unique approach to blending local craftsmanship with sustainability, offering visitors memorable, responsibly designed activities.
For cruisers interested in culture and history, the Roseau History Tour, led by Jackie Dupigny, a founding member of SHAPE, offers a guided walking exploration of the capital. The tour brings Dominica’s past to life through key sites, including the Old Market, an 1800s Creole townhouse, and the Newtown Armoury.
Visitors looking for a more active experience can opt for guided e-bike tours through Dominica Taxi & Tours. Designed for small groups, these tours offer a relaxed and scenic way to explore the island’s landscapes, making it possible to cover more ground in less time.
Looking ahead, Dominica is further enhancing accessibility with the development of the world’s longest detachable cable car, which will transport visitors from the Roseau Valley to the iconic Boiling Lake, one of the island’s most celebrated natural attractions. By significantly reducing travel time to a site that currently requires a challenging multi-hour hike, the project will make one of Dominica’s most extraordinary natural wonders more accessible to a wider range of visitors, including those visiting by cruise.
In addition to new offerings, Dominica continues to feature many of its most iconic attractions through established excursions. Popular sites include Trafalgar Falls, Emerald Pool, Titou Gorge, and Middleham Falls, all accessible via short guided hikes through the rainforest.
