Adventurous clients who have already cruised Alaska and maybe even touched down in Antarctica are ready for an expedition to the enigmatic and still-mysterious destination of Greenland.
The world’s largest island lies between Canada and Iceland, with a third of the country located within the Arctic Circle. Covered in ice caps and surrounded by icebergs, Greenland is a surprising haven for wildlife in this region, but — perhaps unsurprisingly —remains the most sparsely populated when it comes to human inhabitants.
Still, there is so much culture (including Greenlandic cuisine) to sample in its small communities alongside the stunning and remote natural landscapes dotted with whales, seabirds, seals, Arctic foxes, muskox and more.
Now in its 130th year, HX is undoubtedly a well-seasoned veteran when it comes to expedition voyages and they remain the largest expedition cruise operator in Greenland by passenger numbers. It’s this expertise paired with an unwavering dedication to providing authenticity in each destination that makes them an ideal provider for your clients’ trip of a lifetime to Greenland. The following highlights a few of HX Expeditions’ Greenland offerings for the 2026/2027 season and what sets them apart from other tour providers in this unique part of the world.
- Greenlandic culinary program designed in partnership with local chef
The line’s popular Greenlandic culinary program returns in 2026 across nine Greenland sailings and features the talents of four guest chefs who will be onboard as Greenlandic culinary ambassadors providing live demonstrations and storytelling. Developed in partnership with renowned Greenlandic chef Inunnguaq Hegelund, this program celebrates the distinct and diverse flavors of the Arctic using regional suppliers and locally sourced ingredients.
Sourcing partnerships span Greenlandic purveyors of beef and lamb; seafood; and beer, gin and vodka. Onboard, guests can expect a modern, four-course tasting menu curated by Hegelund that showcases Arctic ingredients. Launched for the summer 2026 season onboard MS Fridtjof Nansen is “Tide to Table,” an interactive culinary experience bringing up to 12 guests to join local fishermen using traditional Inuit methods of fishing before an exclusive meal in fine dining restaurant Lindström. The menu focuses on freshly caught seafood with items like halibut tartare with soy-cured egg yolk, puffed rice and horseradish emulsion.
- ‘Into the Elements’ multiday excursion through South Greenland wilderness
If your client is a hiking enthusiast and has ever wished to step off the ship for longer than a day to really enrich themselves in the local environment, this added offering is for them. Available on select MS Roald Amundsen voyages, the “Into the Elements” program welcomes a small group of up to nine guests to participate in an overland adventure into the wild of Southern Greenland. This intrepid excursion package begins with a nearly 4-mile hike followed by a science-focused, interpretive boat ride. Another short hike brings travelers to their remote basecamp, complete with toilets and shower facilities. After a memorable overnight stay of camping, a 4.5-mile hike brings guests to a series of waterfalls. Another 4.5-mile hike rounds out the experience bringing this active and memorable excursion to an end.
- Inuit partners lead insightful guided walks
Designed to provide visitors with a deeper sense of cultural connection, these gentle walks aim to provide first-person narration into what it means to be Greenlandic in present day. Led by an Inuit guide, the walks are a rare opportunity to engage with a local resident and touch upon themes of tradition, nature and community.
- More options to boat or kayak for up-close aquatic encounters
Enhanced offerings for the upcoming Greenland season include new ways to explore the oceans and fjords that surround this sub-Arctic island. Sail to the Ikka Fjords, featuring extraordinary and otherworldly mineral formations that rise from the seabed like columns. Another boat ride takes guests to Disko Bay where a naturalist and expedition guide will narrate the importance of the wildlife and geology found among the striking coastal scenery. Or, guests can opt to paddle out in sea kayaks (accompanied by a guide), giving them a personalized view of Greenland’s fjords and their marine inhabitants.
- All travel is covered by the HX Greenland Promise

This new policy states that if a Greenland voyage is canceled or the government advises against travel, guests can either move their sailing along with a 20 percent Future Cruise Credit or receive a full refund.
