The team at NYC & Company today announced a new name and brand identity for New York City’s official destination marketing arm: New York City Tourism + Conventions.

While the mission of the organization remains the same, the new brand name updates its visual identity with a new logo, new colors, and more.

NYC Tourism + Conventions worked with local global design consultancy firm 2×4 to design the new brand, which it says is “is inspired by the graphic heritage of the City as well as the works of artists and designers who themselves were inspired by the five boroughs.”

That includes irregular shapes and intersections within the graphic elements and logo, which reference the city’s streets, and a secondary color palette that surveys some of the city’s icons including Liberty Green, Taxi Yellow and Ferry Orange to Lox Pink, Brownstone, and Rockaway Sand.

Announcing the news on Tuesday, president and CEO of what is now New York City Tourism + Convention Fred Dixon called the move a “significant moment for our organization.”

“Our new brand captures the essence of New York City in its entirety: an ever-expansive destination that offers diverse and authentic experiences that enrich the traveler and benefit all New Yorkers. This shift strategically positions us to continue leading the City’s nearly $65 billion tourism economy. It makes clear our purpose and mission as the official tourism organization for one of the world’s greatest destinations—our commitment to New York City has never been greater.”

To celebrate the launch, the organization is changing its social media handles across platforms to @nyctourism and @nyctourismnews and is launching a new campaign on social media with the hashtag #WhatsGoodNYC.

New York City has experienced a strong recovery from the pandemic—the city registered over 56 million inbound travelers in 2022, a 72.5% increase from 2021. That includes 9.4 million international travelers, which is more than triple the number from 2021.

For 2023, the City is currently on pace to welcome 63.3 million visitors.
