Canadian ultra-low-cost airline Swoop is continuing to expand.
On Monday the carrier announced that it was adding a slate of new flights that will start to roll out in January, including restarting some new popular routes and adding new nonstop to its schedule. The additions, according to Swoop president Bob Cummings, are aimed at meeting the demand for travel to sun destinations this winter.
The additions are:
- Hamilton to Montego Bay, Jamaica – twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
- Hamilton to Punta Cana – twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
- Toronto to Cancun – daily, twice on Tuesdays.
- Winnipeg to Puerto Vallarta – three times weekly on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- Edmonton to Mazatlán – three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
- Abbotsford to Los Cabos – three times weekly on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- Abbotsford to Puerto Vallarta – four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
One-way, all-in prices for the flights start at $159 CAD.
Swoop also recently added non-stops to Punta Cana and Ft. Lauderdale and London to Cancun, continuing its focus on sun destinations from Canadian cities. The Ft. Lauderdale service will start on Dec. 16, the Punta Cana service will start on Jan. 11, and the Cancun service has already restarted.
Bert van der Stege, Swoop’s head of commercial and finance, spoke to TMR earlier this year and said that travelers should expect Swoop to continue that rapid expansion, both inside and outside Canada.
