Travel Market Report Expands Editorial Team With Tunney, Lisella, Increases Coverage of Consortia, Hosts, Europe, Caribbean, Cruises and Luxury

February 10, 2017

Following two years of rapid reader growth, Travel Market Report, the voice of the travel professional, is expanding its editorial team and coverage to better serve its audience of top selling leisure travel agents in the U.S. and Canada.

Award-winning industry journalist Donna Tunney is joining the TMR editorial team and will be authoring a weekly news column alternating between Cruises and Luxury, two beats where she has extensive experience.  At Travel Weekly, Tunney served as senior cruise editor, managing editor and executive editor and was launch editor of their luxury e-newsletter. Later Tunney was editor of Travel Management Daily. She has also covered cruising for Sherman’s Travel, The Examiner and Travel42. Tunney joins TMR cruise editor Daniel McCarthy in providing the most extensive coverage of any trade publication in this important category.

Expanding coverage of Europe, Maria Lisella, another multi-award winning journalist, will join as I’s first-ever Europe Editor. Previously editor of Jax Fax Travel Marketing Magazine, Europe Editor for Travel Agent Magazine, and Associate Editor at Travel and Leisure, she is currently a New York Expert at USA Today and has been a contributor to FoxNews.com, and other consumer outlets.

Additionally, as previously announced, Marilee Crocker is now senior contributing editor. Another award-winning industry veteran, and former managing editor of Travel Weekly and Meetings & Conventions, Crocker served as TMR editor from 2011-2014. She is an expert in small and medium size businesses, and launched a syndicated column on the issues of operating a home-based business. In Crocker’s new role she will provide additional retail coverage focused on consortia and host agencies via the Headquarters Happenings column, joining Richard D’Ambrosio, senior editor of TMR, who will continue to cover retailer associations, legal and regulatory issues impacting travel agents, retailer news and contribute to Luxury coverage.

In a separate move, associate editor Jessica Montevago will assume responsibilities as Caribbean Editor.

“Travel Market Report is the only travel trade publication started by travel agents as an answer to what we believed was a void in the market. The mission of Travel Market Report is to cover industry news from the perspective of retail travel agents. Adding top journalists such as Lisella and Tunney to what is already a very strong team and having Crocker in a leading role underscores our mission as the voice of the travel professional and adds to what we believe is the best team in the business,” said Cheryl Rosen, TMR editor.

Earlier this month TMR launched its exclusive Luxury Channel, providing readers daily news and insights.  “Over the past two years we’ve seen our website readers grow by 156% and now have over 80,000 top selling leisure agents who read Travel Market Report every month.  In 2017 we are seeing continued strong growth with 30% gains year-to-date. These appointments reflect our goal of having the best team of editors and reporters in the industry and continuing to build our readership of full-time, top-producing travel agents by providing quality content,” said Anne Marie Moebes, EVP and co-publisher.
