MPI Assists Unemployed Meeting Planners
Meeting Professionals International (MPI) members currently on the unemployment assistance program take heart. MPI has created a scholarship program to help send these members to a career fair at the World Education Congress (WEC) July 23-27 in Vancouver. Those who qualify for the scholarship will be able to participate in networking events, onsite interviews, a professional development educational track and more.
The scholarship program is part of a broader expansion of the organization’s MPI Career Connections Program through scholarships, enhanced live event career networking and expanding online resources.
The career fair at WEC is designed for planners and suppliers who are currently looking for jobs or for those simply exploring what might be the next challenge in their career path. The WEC Resource Exchange will feature a career fair with unique job postings exclusively for WEC participants, an onsite computer bank, a connection spot for conversations, educational content sessions, personal coaching, and professional resume consulting.
MPI will also expand the meeting and event industry’s largest online career database. The association is now offering human resources departments around the world the ability to post meetings and events positions at no cost to www.mpiweb.org/careers using special code “225.” They will be able to post unlimited meetings and events industry jobs for free, normally a fee of $225 USD per job posting.
As part of the MPI Cares Program, Career Connections remains free for MPI members to post resumes and job opportunities. To date this year, jobs posted on the site have been viewed over 80,000 times. More than 10,000 job seekers have signed up for Career Connections and there are more than 4,000 resumes posted for human resources professionals to search. Posting meetings and events positions on Career Connections gains immediate exposure to this highly qualified pool of candidates. Over 40,000 automated job alerts have been sent regarding new job postings this year.
