The Board of Directors of Allianz Global Assistance (Allianz) has named Kyle Sparkman the new managing director and head of Allianz in Canada.

Toronto-based Sparkman will step into the role Dec. 1, 2024. He succeeds Chris Van Kooten who departed the company last month.

Sparkman has been with Allianz since 2019. He joined the company’s C-suite as chief operating officer, transitioning to chief sales officer in February of this year. During his tenure, he has enhanced operations with innovative, revamped Allianz applications, including modernized claims portals and medical assistance systems.

“We are excited to announce the promotion of Kyle. Over the last five years, Kyle has been an integral part of our leadership team and will continue driving our Canadian strategy forward,” said Jeff Wright, managing director for North America and chairman of Allianz Global Assistance. “I look forward to the energy he will bring as the managing director and I’m confident Allianz will continue to deliver exceptional value to our customers, partners and employees.”

Sparkman brings to the role 25 years of experience, including executive and leadership roles within BMO Financial Group.

“I am honoured to lead Allianz Global Assistance Canada and look forward to collaborating with our talented team to deliver exceptional value to our customers and partners,” said Sparkman. “Together, we will build on our strong foundation to achieve new heights of success in the Canadian market.”
