China’s Business Travel Market at $110 Billion
Chinese travelers spent a total of $110 billion USD during domestic business trips in 2014—an average of $1,100 per trip—according to a new study, “Market Assessment of MICE Business Travel in China,” by the Global Business Travel Association.
That’s only expected to increase; nearly one-third (29%) of business travelers said they plan to attend more Meeting, Incentive, Convention, & Exhibition (MICE) meetings over the next year.
A majority of the trips were held in Shanghai (27%) and Beijing (25%), followed by Guangzhou (24%), Hong Kong (11%), and Macau (6%).
