On Tuesday, as part of a new partnership with General Motors, Hertz announced that it was adding up to 175,000 electric vehicles (EVs) over the next five years. The order, Hertz said, will include cars from Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, and BrightDrop.

The first EVs, Chevrolet Bolt EVs, and Bolt EUV, are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of next year.

Hertz and GM said that the order is “the largest expansion of EVs among fleet customers and the branded” because of the wide range of vehicles being added.

The order is part of Hertz’s vision to have 35% of its fleet electric by the end of 2024.

“It’s exciting that two iconic American companies that have shaped the evolution of transportation for more than a century are coming together to redefine the future of mobility in the 21st century,” said Stephen Scherr, Hertz CEO.

“We are thrilled to partner with GM on this initiative, which will dramatically expand our EV offering to Hertz customers, including leisure and business travelers, rideshare drivers, and corporates.”

Tuesday’s news is far from Hertz’s first announcement in the EV space.

In April, the rental car company announced it had agreed to buy 65,000 electric vehicles from Polestar, a Swedish car manufacturer, over the next five years. Hertz is now offering those cars at some European locations.

Hertz is also offering Tesla rentals—it had announced intentions to buy 100,000 electric vehicles from Tesla by the end of 2022, news that marked one of the largest purchases of electric cars in history. That deal included a marketing campaign with NFL legend Tom Brady.
