Club Med Expands All-Inclusive Ski and Beach Products

by Jessica Montevago  March 12, 2018
Club Med Expands All-Inclusive Ski and Beach Products

The first full 5-Trident resort in Europe will open this summer with the Club Med Cefalu.

Global all-inclusive resort brand Club Med has ambitious expansion plans in the works, the company announced Thursday, with a goal to open five new resorts per year, on average, over the next five years, as well as complete five major renovations to its current resorts per year.

Doubling down on the all-inclusive ski vacation concept
Part of the growth will be to its ski product, representing about one-third of its portfolio with more than 20 all-inclusive ski resorts in France, Italy, Switzerland, Japan and China. Its latest addition is the 382-room Club Med Samoëns Morillon Grand Massif in France, which opened late last year.

Joining it will be the Les Arcs Panorama, a 4-Trident (Club Med’s property rating system) family-friendly ski resort with a 5-Trident luxury space, opening in December 2018. Nestled in an alpine forest within the French Alps, the resort features ski-in/ski-out access, 433 rooms, and three restaurants, including a new family restaurant concept called Bread & Co.

Further down the pipeline, Club Med will open its first resort in Canada, in the Le Massif de Charlevoix region just an hour away from Quebec. The ski resort will offer 300 rooms including 4-Trident Club and Deluxe-level rooms with a 5-Trident luxury space.

Beach resorts focus on luxury and families
As Club Med’s signature beach product gets additions and upgrades, it will focus on targeting affluent families that visit resorts in the luxury and upper-upscale segments.

The first full 5-Trident resort in Europe will open this summer as the Club Med Cefalù, situated on the northern coast of Sicily, Italy. The luxury resort will offer more than 300 rooms, three gourmet restaurants, and three bars.

In the Caribbean, the adults-only Club Med Turkoise will be upgraded to a 4-Trident property as of May 1, 2018, due to its recent renovations and upcoming enhancements, including all-new Deluxe-level room with balconies; a redesigned pool and reception area; a new main bar; renovated dining space with a new wine cellar; and a new wellness area.

Club Med Cancún Yucatán will unveil its expansion this July. The renovations added 60 new family rooms – 30 Family Club rooms and 30 Family Deluxe rooms – along with a new oceanfront pool. The family rooms each feature two separate sleeping areas so the parents and the children can have their own rooms.

Strengthening presence across Asia
Club Med Ho Tram, in the southeast of Vietnam, will be the first Club Med in the country when it opens in 2021. In Indonesia, Club Med Lombok will be the third resort for the brand when it debuts in 2019. Club Med Ceylon in Sri Lanka will also open in 2019.

In the Maldives, the Club Med Kani is upgrading its amenities with families in mind. The resort will open a new scuba diving center and Mini Club for kids. The overwater suites at the Manta Exclusive Collection space will also undergo a refresh. And the Manta section will unveil a new welcome lounge, beach restaurant and bar lounge.

In China, Club Med launched a new, short-vacation-style hotel concept. Offering upscale amenities and premium services, Club Med Joyview hotels will debut in China over the next three years, each within a three-hour drive from a major city. Two Joyview resorts recently opened: Club Med Joyview Golden Coast in the Hebei Province and Club Med Joyview Anji in the Zhejiang Province. Club Med Joyview Great Wall, Hebei Province, is slated to open later this year.
