Small group tour operator Intrepid Travel has appointed Brian McLaren as head of sales, North America.

An industry veteran, McLaren has more than 20 years of travel industry experience across sales, strategy, supplier partnerships, and management. He joins from Flight Centre Travel Group, where he spent the past decade in various roles. Most recently, he served as executive vice president and general manager of Flight Centre Canada.

As head of sales, North America, McLaren will lead sales strategy for North America, relying on proven skills for building high-performing teams and driving sustainable business growth. According to Intrepid, Canada is the tour operator’s fastest-growing market, and the U.S. is on track to become the company’s largest market globally by 2030.

McLaren brings to the role an understanding of the traveller mindset, having visited more than 45 countries, as well as a strong trade network.

“I’m proud to join a company that I’ve had a ton of respect for over the years, and to be part of a team of purpose-driven people delivering experiences that truly live up to the promise of responsible travel,” said McLaren.
