Longtime CMO Steve Born Exits Globus Family of Brands After 25 Years

Steve Born, the longtime Chief Marketing Officer, is leaving the Globus family of brands.

Born announced on social media, “After 25 remarkable years with the Globus family of brands, this week marks the end of that amazing journey. While I’m taking time to consider the road ahead, my memories will be illuminated by the friendship, laughs, and partnerships I have been lucky enough to experience.”

Born has not been directly replaced with a new CMO immediately. Instead, Jeff Russell and Cory McGillivray will take over management of consumer marketing, travel advisor marketing, and communications.

“After 25 years with the Globus family of brands, Steve Born has moved on to begin a new chapter. We are grateful for his many contributions over the years and wish him all the best,” a Globus spokesperson told TMR in an email.

Born, a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, joined Globus in 2001, overseeing marketing strategy for Globus, Cosmos, and Avalon Waterways. He spent a quarter-century helping to grow the Globus business, particularly within the trade, and was part of the team that helped launch Avalon Waterways in 2004.

According to TMR’s Outlook on Land Tours, the Globus family of brands is the most popular tour operator for land travel among advisors—49% of U.S. advisors and 62% of Canadian advisors say they sold Globus, far exceeding the second-place operator in both regions.

Before joining Globus, he served as Vice President of Account Services at Karsh & Hagan Communications in Denver, Colorado.
