Wynwood Declared Zika Free, CDC Lifts Travel Warning
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Monday lifted the travel ban for Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, after the area was declared free of the Zika virus.
Florida Governor Rick Scott said Wynwood had not recorded a case of local Zika transmission in 45 days. Miami was the first city in the United States where the Zika virus was transmitted by local mosquitoes.
The CDC still advises visitors and residents to avoid mosquito bites in all of Miami-Dade County. On Friday, the state expanded the Miami Beach zone affected by Zika to a 4.5 square-mile portion.
