Punta Cana is far from below the radar. The most well-known of literally the most visited destination in the Caribbean, where 9.5 million out of the record-breaking 19 million travelers flew into in 2024, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say it’s a top-of-mind spot for a wonderful beach vacation.

The key, then, is finding a slice of it to call your own. Somewhere non-generic and not crowded, exclusive yet still with a sense of place. On a beautiful strip of beach but not one where you’re in a sea of people. Oh, and bonus points if it’s luxurious, but also family-friendly, with unique dining options for romance and youthful palates?

All of this sounds like a tall order, but insiders know that there’s one resort that’s been flying below the radar that checks off all of those boxes: Dreams® Cap Cana Resort & Spa.

Location Is Everything

An exclusive gated enclave just minutes from the Punta Cana international airport on the eastern shore of the country, Cap Cana was developed for convenience, serenity, and luxury. Some of the most upscale properties in the Dominican Republic have been built here in this limited but highly coveted community, whose amenities include a state-of-the-art marina in a protected, calm harbor, miles of white sand beaches, and a Jack Nicklaus award-winning golf course, Punta Espada Golf Club.

Nearby attractions include Scape Park, El Dorado Water Park, Blue Hole natural spring, and well-maintained outdoor trails on which to encounter wildlife and tropical flowers.

It’s here that Dreams® Cap Cana Resort & Spa is located – a high end, leisure activity-filled neighborhood closed to those outside of it to ensure its guests smooth access to amenities, privacy on the grounds, and shorelines and waters protected from crowding.

Family-Friendly but Luxurious

Used to be that travelers would have to make the tough decision between family-friendly and adult-level abundance and polish. But not with the Dreams® Resort & Spa properties, and certainly not Dreams Cap Cana.

Here, 519 elegantly appointed rooms and suites with generous in-room comforts such as a daily refreshed minibar and 24-hour room service, provide ample room to share between guests, including a sitting area and furnished outdoor space. In fact, the entry-level, surprisingly affordable 420-square-foot Garden View category with two queen beds, lets up to four guests (maximum three adults) vacation comfortably. And those traveling with a child and may value the privacy of a separate main bed area, where the Junior Suite with Sofa Bed is ideal.

Plus, there’s always the Preferred Club level for better rooms in better locations, access to an exclusive lounge, special concierge service, and enhanced amenities in-room or on the grounds.

Even better, vacationers can travel with the whole family here. If their smallest member has four legs and fur, they’ll be delighted to know that Dreams® Resorts & Spas welcomes small dogs, going so far as to supply them with food and water bowls, their own bed, and toys, reducing your packing burden.

This great blend between family needs and adult tastes extends to dining as well. Alongside sophisticated coffee drinks that will get the grown-ups going through the day, sweets and snacks at the 24-hour Coco Café take the edge off hunger around the clock as needed. The brand’s signature Barefoot Grill serves up familiar poolside-appropriate food all day for all ages. An international buffet takes care of all cravings and dietary needs.

Bonus: a casual dress code extends to all dinner restaurants – Mediterranean, Japanese and pan-Asian, a gourmet steakhouse, Italian, and a Caribbean grill – making it easier to get everyone happily and well fed.

Additionally, Dreams Cap Cana is the only resort in the entire Hyatt Inclusive Collection to have a brewery, The Coral Keg, which also cooks up grilled favorites.

For nights out, take advantage of the Sip, Savor & See dining experience at neighboring adults-only Secrets® Cap Cana Resort & Spa to enjoy dinner, drinks, and live entertainment there. And for something extremely special, set up a romantic beachfront dinner – a great reason to take advantage of available childcare services (additional cost). Of course, during the day, the Explorer’s Club for kids or Core Zone for teens are fully included, as is access to two pickleball courts, a tennis court, beach volleyball and soccer, and non-motorized water sports and daily enrichment activities.

With all of this available, it’s no wonder property loyalists have kept this unicorn close to the chest. But it won’t remain below the radar for long, making now a great time to book.
