Walton, Gostelow Join Travel Market Report Editorial Team
Nick Walton and Mary Gostelow are joining Travel Market Report’s editorial team as contributing editors, each with new monthly columns. The appointments follow the additions of James Shillinglaw and Paul Ruden earlier this year, and Richard D’Ambrosio as Retail Editor last month.
“Nick and Mary each add a new and dynamic element to our editorial coverage, and underscore our mission as ‘the voice of the travel professional,’” said Cheryl Rosen, editor of Travel Market Report, in making the announcement.
Walton is former travel editor of South China Morning Post and editor of Jetsetter, a leading consumer travel magazine in Southeast Asia. Walton is based in Hong Kong and will provide a monthly column keeping agents up to date with new hotel openings across the region.
“Asia is the world’s fastest growing market, and with increased nonstop air service such as United’s new nonstop flight from San Francisco to Singapore launched last week, travel continues to grow. Our readers want to be the first to know about new properties when they open as opening dates often shift, and Nick’s reporting from his Hong Kong base will do that,” Rosen said.
Mary Gostelow is owner of The Gostelow Report, a monthly newsletter for owners and executive management of hotel companies and a contributing editor to Hotels Magazine. She will write a monthly column tracking general manager appointments at luxury hotels worldwide.
“Consumers are turning to travel agents in record numbers, and one reason is that agents is that agents have personal relationships with executives at the hotels they sell. With GMs constantly on the move, this column will be a must-read for all agents selling luxury travel,” Rosen said.
Both appointments reflect Travel Market Report’s continued investment in providing its travel agent readers the highest quality and most useful editorial content. A recent survey of over 400 travel agents found TMR ranked first in both areas by full-time travel agents.
