World Travel and Tourism Council to Host COVID-19 Summit
by Daine Taylor /The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), in partnership with the Carnival Corporation, will be hosting an online global scientific summit to confer about the latest insights and best practices for operating during the COVID-19 crisis.
The WTTC/Carnival Corporation Global Science Summit on COVID-19, scheduled for July 23, will feature public forums and panel discussions from scientists and global health experts regarding the prevention, detection, treatment and mitigation of COVID-19.
“COVID-19 has had a crushing global socio-economic impact and is threatening the jobs of millions of people whose very livelihoods depend upon a thriving travel and tourism sector for their survival,” said Gloria Guevara, President and CEO of the WTTC.
This event will be a powerful platform for harnessing the best thinking from across all fields of knowledge in the public and private sectors. The science of this virus is rapidly evolving and these real-time insights will be invaluable in helping us determine evidence-based protection and mitigation measures to combat COVID-19. They will also help drive global alignment and collaboration on the frontiers of science and policy, which is critical to the survival of this important sector.”
The event is free to attend and will feature a series of different panels focusing on an important aspect of the pandemic, including; epidemiology, the disease’s transmutation rate, screening and testing methods, vaccine progress and practical risk mitigation.
