ALG Vacations to Pay Full Earned Hotel Commission in Europe
by Daniel McCarthy /Apple Leisure Group (ALG) Vacations is continuing to expand in Europe.
The company, which says its goal is to become travel advisors’ “first call” when booking Europe, announced this week that it had hit a number of milestones in Europe.
Those include now offering flights on some of the main U.S. carriers — United, Delta, and American — along with others including Condor, Eurowings, and more, and now offering more than 500 tours in some of Europe’s mainstays such as France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and Greece.
ALG Vacations is also expanding its Hyatt Inclusive Collection Resorts catalog, with 34 properties currently on sale and another eight expected to open up before the end of the year, and adding more destination management services in some growth areas such as Switzerland, Bulgaria, Croatia, United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, and Corfu.
The company is relying on its partnerships with the travel trade in order to keep its Europe product growing, mainly by offering a number of incentives to advisors. Most notably, ALG Vacations said this week that it would pay full earned hotel commission on all hotels in Europe. The company is already doing the same on bookings through Travel Impressions, Apple Vacations, Funjet, and United Vacations, but will now expand that policy to all its European hotels.
“Our objective is to make ALG Vacations top-of-mind for advisors booking Europe by offering a diverse, competitively priced program with multi-stop itineraries and multiple transportation and tour options operated by the most reliable vendors,” said Jacki Marks, ALG Vacations’ Global Head of Trade Brands.
“Between soliciting feedback from our BDMs and travel advisors as well as marketplace surveys, we’re proactively asking travel professionals what they want, and then taking action. We’ve recently enhanced our Europe policies and commission, added more advisor education, more marketing support, and dedicated Europe digital catalogs.”
ALG Vacations is also adding its price guarantee policy to its European ALGV’s Travel Protection Plus plan, as more and more consumers book farther out.
