Collette Tours is cancelling all departures to Italy through March, due to the rising threat of the Coronavirus.

“The Coronavirus is having limited impact on the ability for guests to travel to destinations that Collette offers tours to worldwide, with the exception of both China and Italy. Collette closely monitors the guidance provided by the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, US Department of State and other public and private partnerships to ensure the safety and security of our guests and employees worldwide,” Collette said in a statement on its website.

The tour operator issued a travel alert on its website notifying customers of the change and giving them the option to either travel on a date and tour of their choice, or be provided a refund.

The suspension of trips to Italy is due to last through March 31, with normal operations expected to resume on April 1, 2020.

“For the vast majority of destinations worldwide, recommendations are to follow the normal precautions you would apply for any travel; avoid contact with sick people, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, and wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20-seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains 60% - 95% alcohol,” advised Collette.

“We will continue to assess the situation on an ongoing basis and communicate any changes as soon as possible.”
